"A Hand Up not a Hand Out"

Enid Habitat for Humanity

is a community-based organization which strives

to provide housing for low-income families in Enid.  This is

accomplished through rehabilitation of existing structures, new

construction, and interest-free loans.

Habitat's goal is to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness

from the world, and to make decent shelter

a matter of conscience and action.

How are families selected?

Families in need of decent shelter apply at the Habitat office.  Where you must complete a Pre-application Questionnaire in order to be considered for a Homeowner Application.

The Family Selection Committee chooses homeowners based on their level of need, their willingness to become partners in the program and their ability to repay the no-interest loan.

Habitat does not review applications like a bank.  Most individuals chosen would not be approved for a bank loan.

Habitat provides a Family Nurture program which provides financial advice and helps the family become responsible citizens.

Habitat is not a give-away program. As mentioned above, homeowners must make monthly mortgage payments on a no-interest loan, for the value of the home over 15 - 20 years.

Prior to consideration for a Habitat home, the homeowner family must invest 300 hours of sweat equity on Habitat projects.
