The Mass of Christian burial for Betty Lou Simunek Powell, 81 year-old Enid resident, will be 11:00AM Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Reverend Mark Mason will officiate. A recitation of the rosary will precede the service at 10:00AM under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hennessey Cemetery.

Betty was born March 3, 1941 in Enid, Oklahoma to Jerry and Regina (Iven) Simunek and grew up on a farm near Covington. She passed away August 3, 2022 in Enid. Betty was a long-time member of St. Francis Catholic Church. She worked as a CNA, then worked in physical therapy off and on for thirty-five years before retiring.

Betty loved making crafts and working in her flowerbeds. She loved to travel. OU and the Dallas Cowboys were her teams.

Betty's loves of her life were her children, Bob Holmes and wife, Susan and Brenda Byford; grandchildren, Korie, Nicholas, Heath, Heather, and Brogan; great-grandchildren, Holly, Hudson, John, Hadley, Lawson, Lillian, and James. Also surviving are two sisters, Kathy Bush and Elsie Mae Root as well as brother, Ronny Simunek and wife, Nancy.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Kenneth and Leslie Simunek.
