Enid
Carolyn Fannie Harwood was born May 21, 1947 in Enid, Oklahoma to Calvin & Lora Luella (Burdg) Knox. She passed away June 13, 2022 in Oklahoma City, surrounded by her family.
She attended schools in Hennessey and Enid, graduating from Enid High School in 1965. Carolyn then went on to attend Phillips University where she graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Education. In 1970, she began her teaching career at Adams Elementary. After forty-two years, she retired but wouldn't stay out of the game long as she worked one more year as a Pre-K assistant before retiring again. Her teaching career was paramount to her and making sure her students were educated.
On June 3, 1969, Carolyn married Terry Harwood in Trinity Methodist Church. He preceded her in death in 2016.
Carolyn was a member of New Hope Methodist Church and the Oklahoma Educators Association.
Some of her hobbies were collecting anything, but especially antiques; going to garage sales, thrift stores and bargain hunting. She had an adoration for her menagerie of pets. Quite the avid reader, she was also a talented pianist but most of all, she loved listening to her son, Steven, sing and play the piano.
Carolyn is survived by her son, Steven Harwood and wife, Sara of Enid; sister-in-law, Linda Crowcroft of Enid; nieces and nephews, Scott Meadows and wife, Gina; Melissa Chapman and husband, Jason; Crystal Meadows and fiancé, Jamie Wolfe as well as numerous extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Terry; step-sister, Betty Knox and nephew, John Meadows.
Funeral services will be 10:00am Monday, June 20, 2022 in the chapel of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home with Pastor Nathan Oney officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
