Obituary

Funeral services for Cassandra Rhea Bennett will be 10:00am Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Your Family Church. Burial will follow in Enid Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Cassie was born May 24, 1976 in Enid to James Frederick and Linda Gail (Smith) Litton and passed away January 6, 2019 in Enid, surrounded by family.

Growing up, Cassie lived several places: on the plains of Oklahoma to the coastline of Texas to the islands of Indonesia and the mountains of Colorado back to the plains. She attended kindergarten in Jakarta, 2 nd grade in Balikpappan, 3 rd -8 th grade in Crawford, Colorado and, in 1994, graduated high school in Hotchkiss, Colorado. She went on to attend classes at Hardin-Simmons University. She was baptized and was a member of North Fork Baptist Church in Paonia, Colorado.

Cassie lived for children. She worked by helping the disabled as a supervisor which led to her becoming a daycare teacher. For over 17 years, she worked at various places including La Petite Academy and Bits of Stardust in Oklahoma City as well as Applewood Early Learning in Enid.

On September 20, 2014, she married Jason Bennett. Shortly after the birth of Braxton in February 2015, she started having walking issues. Then, on May 19, 2016, she was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). This took hold of her slowly at first then quite rapidly. She was the first stem cell patient to be selected to try in the state of Oklahoma. She did treatments of acupuncture, then medicine that was supposed to help slow down the progression of the disease. Lastly, she was selected from across the states to be able to try Radicava Infusion that was also to help slow down the progression of ALS.

Cassie enjoyed driving around town, listening to music, singing and dancing. She passed on that love of music to her children. When possible, she helped at Anew Church. She was passionate about birthdays and always celebrated them in big ways, much to the delight of the recipient. Her ability to talk affected her the first year after her diagnosis. Her son Braxton , to his memory, has never heard his Mommy talk or seen her walk. It was especially hard on Cassie as she loved to read and sing to her children. She lost the ability to drive at the beginning of summer 2017. All four of her children became her caregivers, along with aide, Leisa MacDougall. Her son, Todd, attended to her daily needs and Triniti was also there to give relief to Todd, and she would attend to her Mom's needs. While her niece Skylar was staying with her, due to her Mom and Dad being in Iraq, Cassie introduced her to Taylor Swift. This led to Cassie having Skylar give many concerts to numerous people. Cassie fought hard and strong to overcome this horrible disease, to remain with her family, but it finally took hold of her.

She was preceded in death by her father, James; maternal grandparents, Mabon and Joyce Smith; paternal grandmother, Betty Zaloudek; paternal grandfather, James Litton; aunts, Carol Bond and Marilyn Shahan and cousin, Amie K. Paul.

Cassie is survived by her mother, Gail; children, Triniti J. Hutchison and fiancé, Brandon Clingenpeel; Todd Hutchison; Kinley Litton and Braxton Bennett; sister, Autumn Freeman and husband, Brandon Freeman; two nieces, Skylar Freeman and Claire Freeman; two nephews, James Freeman and Jeremey Freeman; five uncles, Hank Litton and wife, Diana; Jimmy Litton and wife, Heather; Ronald Smith; Douglas Smith and wife, Juanita; Gary Smith and wife, Deanna; five aunts, Freda Smith; Trudy Freeman and husband, Ron; Rosemary Larson and husband, Kent; Janie Carpenter and husband, Charlie and her favorite aunt in Colorado, Peggy Litton as well as numerous cousins and extended family.
