The funeral service for David Lynn Cook, 64-year-old Enid resident, will be held Monday, May 1 st , 2023 at
2:00 p.m. at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church with Reverend John Toles officiating. Burial will follow at
Enid Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. David was born June 10, 1958, in
Guthrie, OK. to Steve Norvel Cook and Katy Bell (Stevens) Cook and departed this life Thursday, April 27,
2023, at Integris Bass Baptist Hospital Center.
David attended local schools and graduated from Enid High School in 1976. David's career spanned
across various industries. He went to work for George E. Failing Company where he became a machinist
and met his wonderful and patient wife, Sally (Hume) Cook. They were married on October 31, 1980, in
Kremlin, OK. He later worked at A.W. Brueggemann Company for 25 years where he became Vice
President in charge of production. His children felt they grew up there. David eventually sought out a
new career and found a position at Woodring Municipal Airport, which he loved, which then led to his
final place of work with Blackson Arrow at Vance Air Force Base.
David was a loving and dedicated father. He spent most of his life teaching his children self-sufficiency,
humility, and empathy while providing them with excitement and many outdoor adventures. His humor
was quiet and loud at the same time. He took pleasure and found solitude in riding his Harley. David
and his wife Sally made certain that their children had everything they needed. When the grandchildren
arrived, he provided new go-karts and toys for them, but with the necessary safety features; fireworks
and toddlers seemed to be his favorite. He raised some tough kids and was a rock for each of them in
their most difficult times. His children loved him dearly.
David will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. Though his bluntness was well
known, his heart was always fully intact. He will be remembered as a loving and dedicated family man
who had a passion for adventure and instilled valuable lessons in his children.
David was preceded in death by his folks, Steve Norvel and Katy Bell Cook, step-mother Eldora "Dody"
Cook, his brother Howard Cook, sister Charlotte Wiggins and brother-in-law Ronnie Wiggins.
He is survived by his beloved wife Sally Ann (Hume) Cook, of Enid; his children John David Blancuzzi
(Francis) of Ponca City, Mary Elizabeth "Betsy" Bell (Stacie) of Pilot Grove, MO, Kathy Naheed Grisham
(Jason) of Angel Fire, NM, Jessica Lynn Cook (Nate) of Enid, Justin Hume Cook (Jessica) of Mount Airy,
MD; his grandbabies Nicole, Niko, Garrett, Sydney, Haylee, Danielle, Tristin, McKenzie, Stem, Andrew,
Kiersten, Matthew, Bodi, Ryder, and Kinley; his brother Jerry Cook (Charlene) and sister Sharon Stewart
(JD). Sharon was always a light for him. David also enjoyed his many precious nieces and nephews. "...Cheerful in all weathers.
