Doris "Cissy" Keegan Johnson, 78 of El Reno, died September 23, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, following a brief illness. She was born May 1, 1936, in Oklahoma City, to Tom Edwin and Margaret Myrtle (Cunningham) Keegan.

Cissy's major challenge in life came after contracting polio at age 13, yet she would not allow it to define her life. She became ill with the disease while spending the summer of 1949 in Colorado. She then attended rehabilitation at the Kessler Institute of West Orange, N.J. for three months before returning to her home in Chandler. Cissy graduated as Salutatorian of her 1954 high school class.

She moved to El Reno in 1974 as owner of Johnson Oil Company. Cissy had a bright and inquisitive mind and was interested in people. She loved to travel, enjoyed cooking and baking, was an avid reader, jigsaw puzzle enthusiast and adored her cats.

A gracious host and attentive listener, she made many friends, and had the joyful ability to keep them throughout her life. She was loved and will be greatly missed. Cissy was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church where she served on various committees and as treasurer of the Book of Remembrance. She was a member of A.M. PEO and Criterion Book Club.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents; maternal grandparents, A.B. and Harriet Cunningham, who were pioneers to Lincoln County; paternal grandparents, Edwin Glen and Ocie Keegan.

Survivors include one brother, Edwin Alfred Keegan of Rockwell, TX; nephews, Edwin Alfred Keegan II and his wife, Jane of Denver, CO; Patrick Kevin Keegan and his wife, Yvonne of New Orleans, LA; Tom Lee Keegan of Rockwell, Texas; niece, Karen Keegan and husband, Dr. Guy Van Syckle, Bethesda, MD as well as numerous other extended family members.

Graveside service will be 11:00am Monday, September 29, 2014 in Oak Park Cemetery, Chandler, OK. Reverend Jan Burns-Hintz, pastor of El Reno First Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Services are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home, Enid.

Cissy asked that memorials be made to First Presbyterian Church of El Reno. The church, at 221 S. Barker, will be open at 1pm Monday, following the graveside service, and a light luncheon will be provided for family and friends at 1:30 p.m.
