Funeral services for Doris Jean McBee, 89 year-old Oklahoma City resident, will be 11:00am Tuesday, June 22, 2021 in the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Resthaven Cemetery, OKC. Visitation for family and friends will be 2:00pm-6pm Sunday, June 20, 2021 and 9:00am-8pm Monday, June 21, 2021 at Huber-Benson Funeral Home, El Reno. Also, 9:00am-10:00am Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Resthaven Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home, Enid.
Jean was born July 31, 1931 in El Reno to Wilbur Reuben and Glenda Opal (Duncan) Anderson and passed away peacefully June 14, 2021 in El Reno with her family by her side.
Jean grew up in El Reno and graduated from El Reno High School in 1949. On July 31, 1949, she married Malvin David McBee at her parents' home in El Reno. After the birth of their two sons, they moved to Oklahoma City in 1957. Following her love of helping others, Jean worked in food service for the Oklahoma City school system. In May 2001, she became a proud volunteer for Integris Southwest Medical Center where she helped those in ICU waiting. There, she was a board member and chairman of the calling committee. After serving over 8000 hours, she was made an Honorary Volunteer in November 2018 after she was no longer able to physically volunteer. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting baby caps for newborns.
For a number of years, Jean was the pianist at McKinley Avenue Baptist Church. After the church closed, she became a devoted member of Southwest Baptist Church.
Malvin preceded her in death in 1995 followed by her sons, Willie McBee in 2011 and Martin McBee in 2012. Ever a woman of faith and having always given her heart and trust to the Lord, we're sure Jean is in Heaven reading them the riot act about leaving us too soon. Also preceding her in death is grandson, Lance McBee; her parents; brother, Allen Anderson and sisters, Phyllis Burton and Glenda Hale.
Jean is survived by daughter-in-law, Bonnie McBee of El Reno; grandchildren, Gina Wilkerson and husband, John of El Reno; Scott McBee and wife, Becca of El Reno; Keri Haines and husband, Merlin of Enid; great-grandchildren, Meghan, Lynn and Colt (fiancée, Sayde McConnell) Wilkerson; Steven and David McBee; Logan and Jace Haines; sisters, Charleece McBee and Joan Herr as well as a large extended family and numerous friends, way too many to count.
Jean truly loved giving to others. With that in mind, memorial donations can be given to Integris Foundation with Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home acting as custodian of the fund. PO Box 507, Enid, OK 73701.
