The memorial service for Earl "Dean" Detrick, 76 year –old Ames resident, will be 2:00pm Wednesday, December 17, 2014 in Parker Chapel Church with Pastor Rick Milam officiating. Committal service will follow in Ames cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.
Dean was born February 12, 1938 in Enid to Fred and Christian (McCracken) Detrick and died December 11, 2014 at Greenbrier Nursing Home in Enid. In 1956, he graduated from Ames. On June 18, 1965 he married Karen Dyer at the home of her parents in Enid where the couple made their home. They moved to Ames in 1973.
He was a devoted elder at Parker Chapel where he was a long-time member and Sunday School Assistant Superintendent. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting and feeing his turkeys and deer.
He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.
Dean is survived by son, Mark; daughter, Cynthia, both of Ames; two brothers, Gerald Detrick and wife, Donna; Terry Detrick and wife, Rita, all of Ames; sister, Karen Womack of Enid as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorials may be given through the funeral home to Parker Chapel or Ames American Legion.
