The graveside service for Earl R. Gopfert, 92 year-old Covington resident, will be 10:00 AM Thursday, July 2, 2026 in the Covington Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. The Rev. Tommy Donaldson will officiate.

Earl Richard Gopfert was born on February 21, 1934 in Covington, OK to Herman and Lena (Wolf) Gopfert. Earl attended Covington Schools graduating in 1952. Earl and two other young men from Covington signed up for the draft in April 1955. They served in the korean war until returning home in 1957.

On September 15, 1957 Earl married the love of his life Janice Reinhardt, to this union their daughter Carolyn was born.

Earl worked for various oilfield drilling companies, went north custom harvesting along with his brother Charlie, working for Ben Holding for several summers. Earl then went to work at Charles Machine Works in Perry.

After Retirement Earl enjoyed building things from wood, having coffee with the "dinosaur club" at the senior center, riding along with John Branson to the lumber yard, and watching the birds and squirrels. Earl also enjoyed spending time with his family and beloved dog.

Earl is preceded in death by his parents and siblings. He is survived by his wife Janice of the home, daughter Carolyn Bowling of Douglas, And numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flower donations can be made in his name to the Covington Community Cemetery- Association.
