Funeral services for Evert F. Burdick, 81 year-old Enid resident, will be 10:30am Wednesday, January 28, 2015 in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Evert was born March 6, 1933 to Jesse L. and Maude E. (Koch) Burdick in Enid and died Friday, January 23, 2015 at his home in Enid.

Evert attended Harrison Grade School, Longfellow Jr. High and graduated from Enid High School, where he was All-State in baseball, with the class of 1951.

In 1950, Evert married Mary Alice Caldwell and to this union four children were born: Michael, Johanna, Kathryn and Greg.

He worked for seismograph crews as a driller. In 1958, he was employed by George E. Failing Co and retired after 37 years of service.

Evert loved his family. He enjoyed fishing and coaching little league football. Most of all, he loved Enid and the people that live here.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; three sisters and one son-in-law.

Evert is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary; sons, Mike Burdick and wife, Donna of Broken Arrow; Greg Burdick and wife, Karen of Owasso; daughters, Johanna Schmidt and husband, Daryl of Fair Oaks, PA; Kathy Shellady and special friend, Peter Birkenfelder of Enid; granddaughters, Sarah Mae Burdick; Jennifer Koehl and husband, Andy; Jessica Lasko and husband, Mike; Jill Schmidt; Mary Prather and husband, Brian; Candace Lopez and husband, Mickey; grandsons, Christopher Burdick; Matthew Schmidt and wife, Erica; Jayson Shellady and wife, Christi; Brandon Shellady and wife, Toni; Jeremy Shellady; Brent Burdick and wife, Amy; as well as ten great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations can be given through the funeral home to the charity of the donor's choice.
