Obituary

Graveside services for Gary Gene Roberts, 88 year-old Enid resident, will be 1:00pm Thursday, September 19, 2019 in the Mausoleum of Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Clayton Stevicks will officiate and military honors will be presented by the United States Army. Services are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Gary was born the first child to Paul V. and Vera Marie (Gigoux) Roberts on August 13, 1931.  He attended Enid Public Schools and graduated from Enid High on June 2, 1950.  He attended Oklahoma A&M College and was in the Army National Guard.  He attended college until he was called to serve his country in the Korean War.  He earned numerous service medals and a bronze star during his service.  He was honorably discharged in June 1952.

He married Connie (Huffman) Roberts on August 21, 1960.  He worked over 30 years at George Failing Company until he retired in 1996.  He was arguably the best machinist in the nation and was awarded some very special projects during his career.

Gary will be remembered for his wit, humor, humility, and patience.  We will always remember him when we take the backroads.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Connie and brother, Jerry Roberts.  Those left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Anita Cole and Kimberly Miller; grandchildren, Jason Chambers, Rebecca Schmidt, Makalynn Cole and four great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank North Enid Police Department and Garfield County Sheriff's Department for their assistance.
