The funeral service for Harla Sharlene Eslick, 64 year-old Douglas resident at 10:00AM Monday, February 9, 2015 in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Chris Griffith will officiate. A private family burial will follow at a later date. There is a visitation with family on Sunday from 2PM-4PM in the Henninger-Hinson Chapel.
Harla was born June 17, 1950 in Enid to Harold and Marylou (Miller) Beopple and died Thursday, February 5, 2015 in Douglas. She attended Covington/Douglas schools and graduated with the class of 1968. She then attended NOC Tonkawa for a year, transferring to Northeastern State University in Durant.
In 1970 she married Steve Avery in Mohab, Utah. The couple made their home in Utah, then moved to Denver and then to Enid in 1972. They moved to Covington in 1982 where she still lived. She worked in the offices of Dr. Detrick DDS before opening her own clinic in the Enid area. Later she became a private home-health care Aide.
She later married Dwight Eslick. He preceded her in death in 2006. She served on the Covington/Douglas school board. She loved her horses and one of her horses won a race at Remington Park.
She is survived by her son Eric Avery and wife Melista of Perry, her Mother Marylou Boepple of Douglas, her sister Rhonda Steinert and husband Bill of Fairmont, three grandchildren, Blake, Dylan, and Carson, one step-daughter, Elizabeth Vassar and her two daughters, Wilhemina and Virginia. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father and husband Dwight.
