The memorial service for Joan Y. Cook, 79 year-old Enid resident, will be 11:00am Saturday, October 18, 2014 in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at a later date in Enid Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.
Joan was born September 7, 1935 in Wichita, Kansas to Raymond Arthur and Ava Louise (Culgan) Ashpole and died October 13, 2014 at her home in Enid. For over 27 years, she worked as a deputy court clerk for Garfield County.
Joan loved to crochet and could be seen crocheting even in her sleep. For a number of years, she enjoyed helping at Hoover Elementary. But most of all, she took great pride in her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Charles Cook; daughter, Denise Robinson and brother, Raymond Ashpole.
Joan is survived by her children, Darrell Piper; Joe Piper; Darla Meier; Phillip Cook and Johnna Ridenour; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; brother, Gary Ashpole; sister, Janice Ashpole as well as numerous extended family.
In lieu of flowers, a tax deductible donation can be given through the funeral home to Ovarian Cancer Research Fund in Joan's memory.
