The memorial service for John "Bill" Nance, 79 year-old Enid resident will be Monday, April 14, 2014 at1:30PM in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Matt Perkins will officiate.
John William "Bill" Nance was born August 6, 1934 in Drummond to Lewis Perry and Stella (Brobst) Nance and found peace on April 11, 2014 at his home in Enid. He attended school up through 9th grade in Drummond and quit to help on the family farm. He joined the Army National Guard in 1954, serving until 1957. He then joined the reserves until 1962.
He met Sue B. Whitman and they were married November 14, 1958 in Enid. They made their home in the Drummond area and had five children. Bill worked at Vance Air Force Base for 10 years, then went to work for Garfield County for 25 years. He retired in 1994. He enjoyed mowing yards helping Ruey Deirkson in the fields during his retirement years.
He is survived by his wife Sue B. Nance of the home, son, Johnny and wife Charlotte of Reydon, daughter, Barbara Chase and husband Randy of Durant, daughter Margie Nance of the home, and daughter Karen and friend Art Livingston,of Enid, also a son-in-law, Curtis Garner. 7 grandchildren; Mitchell Chase and wife Opal, Kerri Watts and husband Tom, Kayla Campbell and fiancée J.D. Wade, Kevin Garner and wife Kimberly, William Nance and fiancée Ashlie Minter, all of Enid, Laura Rivera and husband Hector of Ponca City, and John Nance of Reydon. Five great-grandchildren; Matthew Watts, Jozlin Campbell, Kain Wade, Benjamin Rivera, and Brooklynn Nance, and sister Pearl Frazier of Haysville, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Perry Jr. Nance and Donald Nance, sister Delores Wilkerson, daughter Rebecca Jean, and great-grandsons, Braxton and Zayden Garner.
