Lawrence L. Widener was born October 1, 1938 in Jefferson, Oklahoma to Leonard & Maurine (Hensley) Widener. He passed away March 17, 2021 in Hydro, Oklahoma with his family by his side.

Larry graduated from Oilton High School in 1955 and went on to obtain his Bachelor's degree in education from Oklahoma State University. He taught general and physical science, math, biology and computer programming in Tulsa, retiring in 1993.

In 1963, Larry married Linda Downen in Tulsa. After retirement, in 2002, they moved to El Reno to be closer to family. Linda preceded him in death on February 28, 2003.

Larry was a devoted member of Wesley United Methodist Church in El Reno, where he was a proud member of the choir. He also was a civitan. His first priority, and most important, was his family, whom he always took care of and cherished very much.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Linda.

Larry is survived by his children, Ronnie Widener and wife, Vickie of Rolla, KS; Katie Skaggs and husband, Rodney of El Reno, OK; Becca McBee and husband, Scott of El Reno, OK; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Tedder; Tony Widener; Chris Widener; Jessika Gorrell; Hannah Skaggs; Codee Skaggs; Steven McBee; David McBee; four great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Lauener as well as numerous cousins.

The memorial service for Larry will be 3:00pm Sunday, March 21, 2021 at Wesley United Methodist Church, El Reno. Pastor Allen Carson will officiate. Burial of his cremated remains will be at a later date in El Reno Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.
