Obituary

The funeral service for Leon Bruce Koehn, 92 year-old Enid resident, will be May 19, 2014, at 10:00 AM in Bible Baptist Church. Pastor Terry Chick will officiate. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Leon was born March 6, 1922 in Meno, OK to Dave and Minnie Koehn and died Thursday, May 15, 2014 in Enid. He attended rural grammar school in Goltry and attended high school in Helena.

Leon enlisted in the United States Army Air Force in September 1942 where he served overseas in the ETO and EAME Theater of operations where he received a good conduct medal, EAME service ribbon and two silver service Stars. In 1945, he received his honorable discharge after which he worked for George E. Failing Co. for a year then farmed near Meno for eight more years.

On January 13, 1946, he married Edna Johnson and in 1954, the couple moved to Enid making it their home. Leon worked for the city of Enid for 32 ½ years, retiring in 1987 as an assistant supervisor for the street department.

Leon was a member of Bible Baptist Church for over 40 years.

Leon is survived by daughter, Carolyn Sutton of Melbourne, FL; siblings, Don Koehn of Broken Arrow, OK; Bethel Kline of Yukon, OK; Harvey Koehn of Enid; Norman Koehn of Wichita, KS; Lillian Freeman of Enid; Jim Koehn of Enid; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna; son, Donald Koehn and his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Bible Baptist Church with the funeral home acting as custodian of the fund.
