Funeral services for Leonard Schmidt will be 10:30am Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at New Hopedale Mennonite Church with Pastors Larry Brashear and James Suderman officiating. Burial will follow in New Hopedale Mennonite Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Leonard was born November 29, 1921 in Goltry, Oklahoma to Benjamin and Eva (Unruh) Schmidt and passed away July 17, 2014 in Enid.

He attended schools in Taloga and graduated from Oklahoma Bible Academy in Meno. On September 29, 1946, he married Martha Marion Unruh in the Hopedale Mennonite Church in Meno. The couple made their home on a farm three miles south of Meno until they moved into town in 1961. Leonard farmed and retired from the Meno Co-Op in 1986.

He was a lifelong member of New Hopedale Mennonite Church. His passions were farming and cattle. He was still working until recently when his health declined.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Martha in 1999; son, Warren Dale; sister, Lela and brother, Lee.

Leonard is survived by daughter, Doris Engemann and husband, Roger of Chicago, IL; six nieces; one nephew and numerous cousins.

Memorials can be given in Leonard's name to New Hopedale Mennonite Church through the funeral home.
