Obituary

The funeral service for Margrett Delmoine Shepherd will be 10:00AM Saturday, August 15, 2015 at First United Methodist Church. Reverend Susan Southall will officiate. Burial will follow in Alva Cemetery at 1:30PM under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Delmoine passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at the age of 97.
She was born on May 8, 1918 In Stillwater, Oklahoma to Stanley John Clingenpeel from Stillwater, Oklahoma and Edna Mae Ditto who lived on a farm near Cushing, Oklahoma.

She graduated from Classen High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1936 and from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma in 1939. Her first teaching position was in Oolagah, Oklahoma.

On December 23, 1940 in Muskogee, Oklahoma she married David James Shepherd. To their marriage three children were born. Following their marriage, they lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma. During World War II, Mr. Shepherd enlisted in the U. S. Army and was sent to Washington University School of Dentistry in St. Louis where Mrs. Shepherd worked as her husband sought higher education. In 1946, they moved to Alva, Oklahoma where Dr. Shepherd set up his dental practice. The Korean War, 1950 to 1953, took them to Camp Polk, Louisiana but they then returned to Alva.

Mrs. Shepherd was a member of the Alva First United Methodist Church. She was also a 50 year member of PEO Chapter AL and a member of Eastern Star. She worked tirelessly for her church and the organizations to which she belonged.

Mrs. Shepherd was preceded in death by her husband; parents and one sister, Genelle Harlan of Spiro, Oklahoma.

Delmoine is survived by daughter, Marianne Morgan of Edmond, Oklahoma, and children, Amy Helm and Ryan Morgan; daughter and husband Elaine and Michael Akermann of Carmel, Indiana and daughter Lee Ann Ridoux and her son and wife Dr. David J. Shepherd, Jr. and Cyndy Shepherd of Enid, Oklahoma and children Jamey Shepherd, David Shepherd and Ashley Cunningham, as well as two sisters, Necia Elliott of Vinita, Oklahoma and Micki Weeks of Grove, Oklahoma. She also has 13 great-grandchildren which include Tyler and Jessica Helm, Maggie, Adison and Jace Morgan, Jay and Gabe Ridoux, David, Peter, Sadie and Annie Shepherd and Phoebe and Sylvie Cunningham.

Memorials may be made to Loaves and Fishes; OMRF (Lymphoma Division), or the Ray Davis Scholarship Fund.
