Mass of Christian burial for Marie Dolores McClure, 85-year-old Enid, Oklahoma resident, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, Jan. 23, 2015 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. The Reverend Joseph Irwin will officiate. A burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Dolores was born March 15, 1929, in Enid to Leonard and Marie (Churchfield) Sarver and died in Enid Monday, January 19, 2015.

She attended St. Joseph's Catholic School and graduated from Enid High School in 1946. She attended Oklahoma A&M University as an art major.

On August 7, 1949, she married Larry Mead McClure at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, and they had sixty wonderful years together until Larry's death in 2010. They enjoyed traveling, dancing, playing bridge, tennis, boating, and skiing.

Dolores was an officer and active participant in Larry McClure Construction Company, the business of her husband, a longtime Enid builder and developer.

Dolores was active in numerous civic and social organizations, including Sons and Daughters of the Cherokee Strip, President of the Altar Society at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, President of PEO Chapter DB, Chi Beta Study Club, and board member of Enid YWCA. Dolores and her husband loved to dance and were charter members of Enid Big Band Dance Club.

Dolores' passion was supporting the arts in Enid. She was a longtime member of the Greater Enid Arts and Humanities Council and served two terms as president. She served on the boards of Enid's Gaslight Theater and the Enid Beautiful Inc. She funded an annual art scholarship at Enid High School, was a founding sponsor of Leonardo's Discovery Warehouse, and was a sponsor of the Enid Symphony Orchestra. Dolores and her husband commissioned and donated "The Homesteaders" statue at Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center.

In 2012 she was honored to receive the Governor's Arts Award for community service by the Oklahoma Arts Council.

Dolores was a strong and vital woman, a wonderful conversationalist, and she dedicated her life to her family, her church, her friends, and the city of Enid.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Patty George.

Dolores is survived by four children, Dan McClure and wife Judy of Houston, Texas, Mary Kathleen McClure of Manhattan Beach, Calif., Claire McLinn and husband Bruce of Edmond, and Kelly Callant and husband Dave of Enid; five grandchildren, Andi, Mark, and Kathleen McClure, and Chelsea and Drew Callant; as well as two nieces, a nephew, and numerous cousins.

Memorials can be made in lieu of flowers to Enid Arts Council, Enid YWCA, or the Altar Society at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, with Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home acting as custodian of the funds.
