Obituary

The funeral service for Nellie Joyce Dittmeyer, 86, of Ames, will be at 11:00am Wednesday September 12, 2018 at the Ames Church of Christ.  Burial will follow in the Ames Cemetery.  Services are under the direction of Henninger Hinson Funeral Home. Visitation with family and friends is 5:30-7:30pm Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the funeral home.

Nellie Jo was born January 24, 1932 in Enid to Everett and Susie (Root) Reynolds and passed away Saturday September 8, 2018 at The Commons, surrounded by her family.

After graduating from Ames High School, Nellie Jo married Harley Dittmeyer on June 10, 1950 in Ames. She spent many years as a cafeteria manager in the Ames Public School system.

After retirement, she and her daughter, Staci, shared a business cleaning and organizing homes. Harley and her enjoyed antiques and auctions together. Nellie Jo had a true servant's heart, looking after everyone in the community. She was known to often take food to those who needed it and would make a farmer's day when she took food to them in the fields.

In her later years, Nellie Jo learned to paint, loved to garden and was an avid reader.

Being a part of the Ames Church of Christ and the Ladies Good Cheer Community Club were very near and dear to Nellie's heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harley; daughter, Staci and sister, Donna Marie Larr.

Nellie Jo is survived by her children, Doug Dittmeyer and wife, Marsha of Stillwater; Brent Dittmeyer and wife, Kathy of Enid; daughter, Deanne Rikli and husband, Billy Clyde of Enid; sister, Janice Bunch of Ames; eight grandchildren, David Dittmeyer; Leslie Ensign; Elizabeth Tresca; Kale Dittmeyer; Kelley Dittmeyer; Brady Dittmeyer; Cassiday Pinion and Miranda Rikli; eight great-grandchildren and numerous extended family.

Memorials can be given through the funeral home to Ames Fire Department.
