The mass of Christian burial for Norma Louise Kretchmar, 87 year-old Enid resident will be Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 10:00AM in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Father Carson Krittenbrink will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.
Norma Louise (Cockrell) Kretchmar was born October 4, 1927 to Dennis Flynn and Edna Fae (Walton) Cockrell and passed from this life December 5, 2014 in Enid, Oklahoma, at the age of 87.
In 1945, Norma graduated from Enid High School. On August 4, 1948, she married Clifford Kretchmar of Medford, Oklahoma. To this union, two children were born: Monte on June 23, 1952 and Jody on January 10, 1956. She worked for her brother-in-law, Joe Kretchmar Jr., at the K and K Lumber Company until 1969, when she became a deputy at the Grant County Treasurer, retiring in 1978. After a few years of retirement, she started volunteering at the Grant County Soil Conservation Office in Medford and received the State Volunteer of the Year Appreciation Award for volunteering the most hours in the state.
Norma enjoyed her family, activities of her children and grandchildren, and her work. She also enjoyed going dancing and traveling with her husband after their retirement. Her children and grandchildren were her entire world. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt and loved being around people. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Medford, St. Mary's Alter Society and Madonna Mothers Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Edna Cockrell; her husband of 52 years, Clifford Kretchmar; son, Monte Kretchmar; sisters, Waunetta Hisey and Wanda Barnett; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Norma leaves daughter, Jody Whitehead; grandchildren, Troy Whitehead; Lacy Greenfield and husband, Cody; Tyler Whitehead; Kala Phillips and husband, Devin; great-grandson, Landon Phillips as well as several nieces and nephews.
Memorials in her name can be given to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Enid, Oklahoma or St. Mary's Catholic Church in Medford, Oklahoma with Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home acting as custodian of the funds.
