Obituary

Robert C. Thomson of Yukon, OK passed away peacefully on October 18, 2023. He was born in
Waltham, Massachusetts on October 19, 1930. Robert was married to Karolina M. Hoefl for 48
years who passed in 2002 and then to Ellen Ruth (Shire) Thomson who passed in 2018. He had
two sisters, Barbara, and Joyce.
He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather He had two sons, Robert W. Thomson
of Englewood, OH and Christopher J. Thomson of Melbourne, FL. He dearly loved his daughter-
in-law, Lisa Thomson who was always there to take care of his needs especially later in life. He
had awesome granddaughters, Lindsay Prichard of Centerville, OH, Kayla Langenkamp of
Englewood, OH, Megan Gough of Englewood, OH and one grandson Glen Snorf of Vandalia,
OH. He had 8 delightful great grandchildren, Michael, Parker, Bruce, Bailey, Ryker, Piper,
Winnie, and Linden.
Ellen is survived by her children, Mike Shire, Susan Craig, Joseph Shire, grandchildren, Russ
and Marissa Choate, Ryan Choate, Rhiannon Shire, Brandy Valentine; Great-Grandchildren,
Rayne, Rogan; Two sisters, Lois (Gary) Smith, of Richland, WA; Anita (Tom) Watson of
Saskatchewan, Canada; One brother, Bryce Hodgden (Elaine) of Woodward, OK; Two sisters-in-
law's, Lollie Hodgden and Millie Hodgden.
Robert enlisted in the Air Force in 1947 and was stationed in bases in Illinois, Germany, Maine,
French Morrocco, Florida, Mississippi, and retired at Tinker AFB, OK in 1967. He went on to
join the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Oklahoma City as an Airways Facilities
Technician until he retired in 1983.
Robert was an avid fan of military history, airplanes, and old movie Turner Film classics. Ellen
and Robert enjoyed traveling, cheering on the OSU Cowboys and OKC Thunder, and spending
time with their family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Robert will be buried at Calvary
Catholic Cemetery in Enid, OK next to his beloved wife, Ellen on Thursday, October 26, 2023,
under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Deacon Val Ross will be officiating.
