Roy A. Monroe's Obituary
Roy Allen Monroe was born December 2, 1926 in San Francisco, California to Roy Lincoln and Hazel (Lawrence) Monroe and died December 7, 2014 at Greenbrier Nursing Home in Enid.
He served in ROTC, the US Navy and US Army Reserve for a number of years. After his discharge from the military, he lived in Borger, TX where he worked in the oilfields. He moved to Oklahoma for a job at Hamm and Phillips where he worked 18 years, retiring in 1995.
In 1982, Roy married Reba Givens.
Roy was a member of Trinity Baptist Church where he worked as custodian for 18 years, following his retirement. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage, yard work, traveling and especially loved working with his hands.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Roy Allen Monroe, Jr and step-daughter, Suzanne Givens.
Roy is survived by his wife, Reba of the home; daughter, Vickie Bengs of Crescent and her four children, Jeff Bengs and wife, Terrie of Quinton; Jason Bengs and wife, Jalonda of Clinton; Kyle Bengs and wife, Tommie of Crescent; Tara Conner and husband, Jeff of Crescent; son, Greg Monroe and wife, Denese of Shawnee and their four children, Johnetta Radford and husband, John of Dale; Danielle Cuyler and husband, Gary of Dale; Adam Monroe and wife, Paula of Prague, OK; Amanda Hess and husband, Glenn of Shawnee; daughter, Pamela Farris of Oklahoma City and her son, Dirk Farris and wife, Kayla of Mustang; daughter, Jill Carlock and husband, Glen of Amarillo, TX and their three children; step-daughters, Pat McBeath and husband, David of Springfield, MO and their two daughters, Christina Deimund and husband, Jeremy and Michelle McBeath; Pam Updyke and husband, Edward of Prairie Village, KS and their two children, Desirae Hosmer and Brandon Updyke; 12 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
The funeral service for Roy will be 2:00pm Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Trinity Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors given by the United States Navy. Services are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.
Memorials can be given through the funeral home to Trinity Baptist Church.
