The celebration for Sallie Kate Entriken Asplund will be 2:00PM in the Breezeway of the First Presbyterian Church on Sunday, October 2, 2022. Please use the North entrance. Services under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Sallie was born June 8, 1948 to Dr. Fred D. and Virginia Sue Herman Entriken. Her grandfather, Harley Lee Entriken, established his dental practice on the north side of the Square in Enid, joined later in his practice by his son, Fred. Her great-grandfather, George B. Tapp made the run in 1893, Homesteading near Billings.

Sallie attended McKinley Elementary School, Waller Jr. High, and Enid High School, graduating in 1966. As a senior, Sallie was an attendant to the May Queen. That summer she won a contest with Thermojac Sportswear, was featured in an ad in December 1966 Seventeen Magazine, and made several apperances for the company. She attended the university of Tulsa where she became a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority.

Sallie worked at Shell Oil Company, was a flight attendant for American Airlines, and was a great travel agent for Bentley Hedges Agency in Oklahoma City. On September 1, 1979, Sallie and George Taylor Asplund were married. In 1991, they returned to Enid, living in the house his grandfather had built on East Maple. In 2006, they built their dream home. Wherever she lived, her home always looked like a page from House Beautiful.

Following her marriage to George, Sallie worked with him in his business. For over 20 years, she managed her parents health care, learning the intricacies of Medicare and health insurance. Sallie was kind, loving, caring, helpful and funny.

In 2011, Sallie was diagnosed with Fronto Temporal Dementia. After George's death in 2012, Sallie was cared for in her home by an outstanding team of wonderful ladies including: Linda, Maggie, Carla, Susan, Janet, Joyce, Laveta, Marilyn, Sue, Carly, Peggy, Dee, Zola, Janie, Rae, Cheryl, Becky, Stephanie, Karen and Eytone. Her family is eternally grateful for their help and dedication which made it possible for her to remain at home until her death on August 29, 2022.

Sallie was preceded in death by her husband, George; brother, Fred Dea and her parents. She is survived by sister, Susan Renz and her husband, Robert; niece, Laura Virginia Renz, all of Spokane, Washington; cousin, Louise Entriken Neal of Wichita, KS; sisters-in-law, Carol Asplund and Nancy Entriken of Enid; Anne Asplund of Oklahoma City; nephews, Mark Asplund of Bentonville, AR and Caden Young of denton, TX; nieces, Shelly Dupus and Emily Young, also of Denton.
