W.L. "Bud" Stephenson, Jr., of Enid, OK, passed away Monday, January 19, 2015; just three days shy of his 85th birthday. The funeral service will be 10:30am Saturday, January 24, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church, with Reverend Andrew Long officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Bud was born in Enid January 22, 1930, in Enid to Walter Leslie Stephenson and Geraldine (Baker) Stephenson. He had an older brother, Romayne Stanley.

Bud attended Enid schools and then the University of Colorado, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta. During his college years he joined the military and was assigned to the U.S. Navy Reserves before serving with the U.S. Air Force 1009th Special Weapons Squadron in the Asian Theater during the Korean War. He was married in 1955 to Elizabeth (Betsy) Ann Buckley, and returned to the university to complete his degree in History. He and Betsy had three daughters.

After college, Bud returned to Enid to work at Central National Bank. He served the bank for 29 years in various capacities, the longest of which was President and CEO. During this time, he was also a member of the American Banking Association, served as President of the Oklahoma Bankers' Association, and sat on the Board of the Federal Reserve. He belonged to the Enid Rotary, sang with The Barbershoppers, was a pilot, an avid international hunter, and chaired the Grand National Quail Hunt. He also served as Deacon and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church.

Bud was later married to Susan White and helped raise her three sons, John, Chris, and Matt. After moving to Arizona, he started Caretaker Landscape Management, Inc. He eventually became President of the Arizona Landscape Contractors' Association and received a Lifetime Achievement Award for Caretaker.

Bud returned to Enid in 2005 to be closer to family and friends. He bought a small acreage where he dabbled in raising cows. He enjoyed making walking canes from wood he found on the farm and continued growing plants and tending flowers.

Bud is survived by his loving daughters and their families: Melissa and Gabriel Silva of Kingwood, TX, and sons, Gabriel and Quentin; Amanda and Quentin Lindsey of Enid and daughter, Amber, son Brendon and wife, Sara Lindsey and granddaughter, Ella; Lucy and Edward McIntire of Park City, UT, and son, Ethan and daughter, Beth. He was preceded in death by his brother and parents.

Memorial donations may be given to the First Presbyterian Church of Enid, Wounded Warriors Project, or the World Wildlife Fund with the funeral home acting as custodian of the funds.
