Wallace "Rudy" Walker passed from this earth on June 1, 2014 to be with his Lord, Family and puppies that went on before him. Rudy was born February 11, 1923 to Sarah and Jesse Walker in Pawnee, Oklahoma. He was raised by his mother, Sarah (Tweed) and stepfather, Seth Duncan.
At the age of 14 Rudy joined the United States National Guard then transferred to the United States Army at 16 and moved to Ft. Sill, where he received a minority discharge. In 1941, Rudy joined the United States Navy and was sent to the south pacific where he participated in 18 campaigns on 18 different islands. Transferring to the United States Air Force in 1948, he spent time in Europe serving during the Berlin airlift at Rein Ming, Germany. Throughout his many years in the military, Rudy received several medals, including 3 silver and 1 bronze service stars. In 1953, he married Ruth Calvin and they had 5 children. In December of 1965, Rudy was medically discharged and moved to Enid where he went to work for Vance Air Force Base as a civilian, retiring from Northrop in June of 1984. On July 7, 1989, Rudy married Louella Jean Schram in Enid where the couple made their home for the past 25 years.
Rudy is survived by his wife, Louella Jean of Enid; two sons, Robert Walker and wife, Cynthia of Enid; Jimmy Walker and wife, Lisa of Nocona, TX; four daughters, Katherine Smith and husband, Darrell of Duncan, OK; Susie Shipp and husband, Chuck of Goessel, KS; Annie Walker of Burns Flat, OK; Mary Louise Gill from a previous marriage and husband, Larry of Allen, TX; stepchildren, Mark and Renee Schram of Enid; Shelly White of Wichita, KS; 20 grandchildren; Ten great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren. Rudy is also survived by his beloved dogs, Champ, Brandie and Scooby Doo.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; one sister; former wife, Ruth; grandson, Mike Jones and numerous puppies.
Rudy was a simple man and one of the last true American heroes, who was cremated and at his request no services are scheduled: however, a guest book is available for signing at Henninger~Hinson Funeral Home. Memorials may be given through the funeral home to the Bella Foundation (Rescue for Animals).
